Oxford and Cambridge University Entrance Preparation by OISC

During the summer vacation and Autumn term OISC can arrange preparatory programmes for Oxford and Cambridge University Entrance candidates. The seminars are led by experienced Oxford and Cambridge tutors, including people from admissions in colleges of the University.

Participants must have a good school or college record and be fluent in English. (For those students who do not meet the English Language requirement we arrange an intensive English programme first).Tuition is a mixture of private lessons and seminar groups, which  are very international in their intake and average only 5 or 6 students at any one time.

The programme includes:

  1. Advice and orientation on applying to Oxford or Cambridge. There are important Deadlines , eg Test Registration September (Step for Cambridge earlier); UCAS October. Advice is given in the Personal Statement , which is very important, and should focus on your motivation for and interest in your chosen course. We also offer advice on college choice, or open application.
  2. Written tests at and before the interview (all subjects to which this applies) , with lessons with specialist tutors eg , ELAT, TSA, etc NEW for 2023:  GEOGRAPHY Admissions Test (GAT). The tests normally take place in October.
  3. Interview practice (subject specific) . About half of all candidates are interviewed following the written tests, and about one third of these are offered places (Oxford). The interviews are either in person or online. They are designed to assess your academic potential and motivation to study for your chosen course. Interviews normally take place early to mid December.
  4. If required the course can be combined with revision of school subjects relevant to Oxford or Cambridge prep. (We teach for A Level, IB, AP, and Abitur).

Online programmes are also available for those students unable to study in Oxford

Fees are £600 per week and £60 per lesson for additional one to one tuition.

There are 20 lessons each week (or the equivalent of individual tuition in less frequently studied subjects). We ask students to send as much information as possible on their options and main areas of weakness.

Accommodation can be arranged in the Residence (£500 per week with private bathroom) or with host families (from £250 per week). Both are half board
